Beauty Books

As amazing as beauty blogs and YouTube videos are, I love make up books. They are great to have so you can pull them out and get inspired. There are so many different ones available. Some are more for beginners, while others are for beauty junkies. There are even some that just focus on the eyes if that is your favourite feature to play up.

Here are some of my favourite ones.

Bobbi Brown "Make Up Manual"
If you can only afford one book, this has to be it. It has great photos, and easy to follow instructions. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or a pro, there's something in there for everyone.

Zoe Foster "Amazing Face"
What I really loved about this book was that it has sections on hair, make up and skincare. This would be a perfect pressie for a teenager who has just started getting into make up. Another thing I love about this book are the recommendations. There are options for any budget! While it would be fantastic to buy designer beauty products, sometimes our wallet only allows us to buy supermarket brands.

Rae Morris "Beautiful Eyes"
If you aren't really into hair, lips or nails this book is for you. It's all about eyes and how you can play up your favourite feature. The photography is gorgeous!

Kevyn Aucoin "Making Faces"
This is an oldie but a goodie. It was actually my fist make up book. It has some gorgeous before and after shots. The illustrations are great and easy to follow. He also has different cultures in it which is great to see.

Napoleon Perdis "Forever Flawless"
This is a great book for all ages. It includes before and after shots which are great to see how much difference the right technique can make. It also includes advice on make up tools and skincare.

There's two more that I havent read but have heard great things about.

     Scott Barnes "About Face"

Jemma Kidd "Make Up Masterclass"

Are you a fan of beauty books? What is your favourite? Has anyone read either the Scott Barnes or Jemma Kidd book? What did you think of it?

  1. I like beauty books for the inspiration but I don't have many of them. I have read Lauren Conrad's style book which includes a little bit of beauty if I remember correctly. I also adore Amazing Face:)

  2. I LOVE Amazing Face... I blogged about it yesterday (http://confessionsofaba.blogspot.com) - I love that it covers everything, not just makeup.

I've heard really good things about the Bobbi Brown book though - It's on the list of books to buy :)
