Dealing With Sunburn

Tuesday, 27 December 2011

We all know how important it is to protect our skin from the sun, but sometimes we either forget, or stay out in the sun just a bit too long. Here are some ways which to help heal sunburn.

Stay out of the sun!! Cover up or stay inside until your sunburn has healed. Staying out in the sun will make the pain worse and will take longer for your skin to heal

Make sure you are drinking water and staying hydrated. Stay away from soft drinks and alcohol, as they won't hydrate you properly.

Apply Aloe Vera or chamomile to your skin to help cool it. Stay away from fragranced lotions to help limit irritation.

If you shower, make sure it is cool water as warm or hot water will make the pain feel worse.

Don't shave or scrub the area.

If you need to take some pain relief, always follow the instructions, especially if you already take other medications.

Always remember if you are severely burnt to see a doctor, especially if you are suffering from vomiting, fainting or severe blistering.
