Different Summer Essentials

Ahhh wouldn't we all want to be
relaxing here right now ;)

Summer is a great time for yummy food, fun with friends and BBQs, but it can be very harmful for our bodies. Here are some essential items you need this summer. We always hear about things like bronzer and tanner, so here are some other things you might forget about.

Sunscreen
The best sun protection you can use is a "broad spectrum" sunscreen which protects you from UVA and UVB rays. No matter what your skin type there is a sunscreen for everyone. If you have oily skin, fnd one that is a "matte" finish. Tinted moisturisers are great for busy people or if you hate applying layers and layers of cosmetics.

The way the SPF factor works is that SPF 15 protects you from 93% of UVB radiation while SPF 30 protects you from 97%. Not SPF 30 protects you twice as much as SPF 15.

Always follow the instructions, or you wont get the full protection. Remember the back of your neck and the backs of your hands as well.

A Hat
Hats are great as they not only help protect our face and neck, but also our hair. They are perfect for bad hair days, or if you are stuck outside all day and are worried about colour fade.

Hair Sunscreen
Yes, there is even sunscreen for your hair. They can come in creams and spray form, and are great for when you are having fun in the sun, or work outdoors. Sun damage to our hair can cause colour fading and dry hair.  So if you spend a lot of money on your hair colour, make sure you use one of these!

Applying Conditioner Onto Your Hair Before Swimming
This not only helps the condition of your hair, it helps protect it from chlorine. You can buy ones that are made for swimming, or you can just spray in a leave in conditioner or apply a conditioner to hair before a swim.

Facial Mist
These are great for not only your face, but body too! Keep it in the fridge and when you are hot, spray to cool down. The best ones to use are low on ingredients. Sometimes less is more! Rose water is great for hydration. Sukin and Lush do some great mists.

  1. thank you for the reminder to apply sunscreen. I am quite vigilant now, in fact I even wear sunscreen and shades at home sometimes haha..because I get a lot of sunshine in the house too.

Thanks for dropping by my blog ;-)
