What To Do With Products That You Can't Use

Monday, 16 January 2012

There are some things that we buy, or get given, that we just don't like. Sometimes there are ways that we can use them for other uses, so they don't just sit in our bathroom cabinets gathering dust.

Foundation is the wrong colour
Add primer or moisturiser to foundation that is too dark. Otherwise you can mix the wrong colour with a lighter/darker colour to make a colour right for you.

Conditioner is too heavy for your hair
Put some in a spray bottle, add water and shake.... You now have your very own leave in moisturiser!

Facial moisturiser makes you break out
As long as it isn't a matte formula, you can use it on other parts of your body. Use it as a foot cream at night and then put on socks. In the moring you will wake up with super soft feet. If it is an anti aging lotion, but it on your hands and chest for less noticeable lines and wrinkles.

Hair gel is too stiff
Sometimes hair gels have too much hold, so add a drop or two of water to some in your hand, to dilute it for a softer hold.

Give to a friend
Things like hair products are great to give away. If you tried anything that is in a pump, it can be passed on. But there are some beauty things you shouln't pass on. Anything in a tub that you have had your hands in. Lip sticks/glosses, liquid eyeliner and mascara are a big no no also, since the bacteria is just sitting on the brush and in the tube. Pencils can be sharpened down so it is new part of the pencil that the person will be using.

Eye shadow is too dark
Sometimes you can use a too dark eye shadow as an eyeliner. Otherwise you can mix it with lipgloss to have a brand new colour. Just make sure you either use a moisturising lip gloss, or apply lipbalm first. If the colour is too light, sometimes you can use it as a blush, bronzer or highlighter (depending on the colour of course!).

What do you do with products that you can't use or make your skin awful?
