Bellabox April 2012

Wednesday, 18 April 2012

This morning I received my Bellabox. I had seen some spoilers on blogs I read, but of course I got a slightly different box to keep me on my feet! The box is all about being "fashion forward" and celebrating the upcoming Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

Comvita Brightening Samples (3 x 1.5mls)
I received 3 different samples from their brightening range. Included was their Brightening Facial Exfoliant, Brightening Facial Serum and Brightening Protective Moisturiser with SPF15. Now, I've tried one of their cleansers before and had a very bad reaction! So I'm really hesitant to try them, even though they sound great. I'll probably try it on the back of my neck first to see if I also react to this.

OP Therapy Summer Scrub (75mls)
This is a full size product and I received the Pineapple and Papaya Sea Salt Scrub. While the name sounds great, I was sad to find that it didn't smell the way I expected. I thought it would smell tropical, but instead it has a more oily smell (a bit like olive oil).

Ulta3 Nail Colour in "Enchanted" (13ml)
This is another full size product. The colour is a perfect for the cooler weather. It's a dark purple that has shimmer in it. I used to love these polishes when I was younger as they are only $2 and are good quality (not OPI quality, but amazing for the price!).

Pure DNKY Verbena Spray (1.5ml)
This is a really soft fragrance. It reminds me slightly of "Cool Water." It's probably more a summer fragrance, or great for someone that doesn't like a sweet in your face scent.

NAK Aroma Hair Oil (10mls)
Hair oils are big in the beauty world, but there are a lot of hits and misses. I really like this one because it smells amazing! It has a gorgeous sweet smell. You can either use this as a treatment or a styling oil. I haven't used Nak products before, but they are Australian made and don't test on animals which I love.

Hollywood Feet Gel Cushions
An odd inclusion for a beauty box, but useful none the less. These are really great for your feet when you are wearing high heels. They are reusable and also have a lavender scent.

Overall the box is much more than what you pay for it. The 3 full size products (salt scrub, nail polish and feet cushions) are $30.95. But sadly this box is missing the WOW factor. While it's a nice box, there isn't anything that I've fallen in love with.

Some girls received a sample of Benefits new foundation instead of the hair oil. I would have loved to try it, but they don't seem to have a great colour range, so it was a blessing in disguise not receiving it. There is nothing more frustrating than the incorrect foundation colour.

Are you happy with you Bellabox? If you were sent the foundation, was the colour ok?
XO

  2. I got exactly the same as you except velvet cushions instead. I got the same ulta too.

  3. Looks like a disappointing box to me. As a nail polish addict, a $2 polish is kind of offensive. That and the heel cushions hardly scream "luxurious samples"! On the plus side, at least it didn't include a food item this month!

    1. Hahahaha yeah I'm a bit over the food samples. The heel cushions were an odd inclusion, but at least they are useful. I saw a few people that thought the nail polish was a bit cheap.

  4. Ahhh, so many beauty boxes now that I've lost count! Do you subscribe to any others? If so, which one would you say is the best?
Really like your blog and all your helpful tips.

    1. Hi Mel, I do sub to all of them. I prefer Lust Have It and I Love This Box the most. They are consistently good and worth the price. I used to love Bellabox, but this year has been quite disappointing. Not enough make up and it just hasn't interested me. Glossybox keeps going downhill. My last box was so bad I didn't even bother blogging about it!!! LHI have teamed up with them, so if you have a GB account you will start getting LHI boxes in May. I loved Beauty Basket at first but haven't received the Feb or March basket (like a lot of customers) and am disappointed in their service.

    2. Totally agree, LHI and ILTB are the best ones out there. I have unsubscribed from Glossybox and Bellabox because they were very disappointing lately.
I hope LHI will keep up the good work and won't go downhill like GB.

  5. I received the sample of Benefits new foundation and found that it has a yellowy sort of colour to it that stands out on my skin. I know it is meant to be a Brightening foundation but I don't want to be yellow.

    1. I saw on Beauty Heaven that someone said that too. Sadly some foundations just aren't for all skin types. I think if you're cool skinned it just won't be a good fit.

  6. I'm kinda glad I unsubbed now its not a great box in my opinion. I was pretty bummed when I heard Benefit were on board so I can't believe they made that one of the optional products. I have read that the lighest shade of the foundation is pretty dark so think I'll put my $15 towards something more useful!

    1. I was pretty disappointed when I saw I missed out on the Benefit product, but ended up happy since it wouldn't have suited me anyway. But it would have been nice to get to try another Benefit sample.

  7. You're so lucky to receive the hair oil instead of the foundation! I was really looking forward to receiving and trying out the foundation only to be really disappointed. Although I had indicated in my beauty profile that I am of olive/tan skin, I received the darkest shade of the Benefit range meant only for dark skin! I do find it kind of unacceptable since other beauty boxes had given me concealers/foundations of the perfect shade so how can they go wrong with it right? Bellabox insisted that they allocated the foundation in accordance to my beauty profile out of the 3 shades they had and now I much rather be receiving the hair oil instead since the foundation is basically useless now :(

I am sorry for the little rant, I just find it kind of unacceptable and didn't like the way they handle the situation. Am definitely starting to think twice w regards to continue subscribing to it..

    1. It's a shame that the foundation didn't suit you :( I wish that these beauty boxes did a voucher instead and you go to a Benefit counter to get a sample. Then you could get the closest one for your skin colour. XO

  11. I was extremely happy with this months box. I recieved The body hydrator and foundation sample (in petal), whilst my nail polish was "jade" however I would call the effect of my nails as a metalic forest green. I felt this box was really customised for me, The body hydrator is great on hands and feet. (Im also allergic to pineapple so LUCKY!!) A lot of people weren't happy with the foundation sample. I am a fair summer with mild olive tones. THIS WAS A PERFECT MATCH! The foundation quality is fantastic, blends well, doesnt streak or cake up. After the hell ive been through trying to get results from my revlon foundations Im buying benefit from now on. :D Bellabox really made my day this month.
