Review: Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask

Tuesday, 24 April 2012

This is one of the products I got from Beauty Heaven's Beautorium a few weeks ago. I've been using this weekly and have nearly finished it. It was the first time I've every tried it and overall I was a little bit disappointed.

I'm not sure if it's because of the hype. So many people rave about Moroccanoil and say how it changed their hair (and in some cases, their life!). For some people Moroccan oil is the holy grail of hair product and changed their hair for the better.

I liked the smell of the mask and the constancy was great. It's really thick and so easy to coat your hair in. It hydrated my hair, but sadly didn't leave it feeling soft and silky, unlike the O&M mask does.

While I didn't hate it, I found it "good" or "nice." There was no holy grail moment for me, nor did it transform my hair into Blake Lively's. I liked it, but didn't love it.

And that's what it comes down to. It's a good product (for my hair) but not great. Considering it's nearly $45, it is a lot of money to spend on an "ok" product for me. I would prefer to spend that money on either the O&M Seven Day Miracle Moisture Masque or the Sunsilk Keratinology Mask

Are you a fan of the Moroccanoil mask, or do you think it's a little overrated?
XO

    1. Ohhh I'll have to try out the PM serum. I haven't had luck with their products before, but who knows....the serum may be perfect for me! Thanks for the recommendation! :) XO

  3. I didn't find it a holy grail product either! You should try the macadamia mask - definitely more impressive :) xx

    1. I've tried a sample of the Macadamia mask (I got two uses from it) and really like it. I also love their macadamia treatment oil....it's in my hair at the moment :)

  4. Aw I was always curious about this but I tried the macadamia oil first. It's unfortunate you were a bit disappointed. I've been using the organix macadamia oil (cheaper alternative for the other macadamia oil that's more raved about - I forget the brand!) for a few weeks now and it's really great, I think slowly but surely, my hair is on it's way to recovery! It also smells delicious.

  6. Thank you for sharing. I have used the Moroccan oil shampoo and conditioner and was not wowed either. It was just okay and not worth the $. I am using an Orofluido hair oil and treatment and they are both gorgeous. I paid $49 for both which I think is very fairly priced X

  7. I haven't tried the Morrocanoil Mask before, though I have found that most products from their range are overrated.

    1. I agree with you Rose. They are good products, but are quite expensive and not worth that much. And when there are so many options, it makes it harder to justify spending nearly $50 when you can buy a whole range for nearly that much!

  8. I like it but I wouldn't say it's fantastic. It really is the reputation that we pay for, I think. I haven't really found a mask that I think is truly 'wow'.

  10. Moroccanoil is my holy grail product. I use it almost every day especially when blowdrying my hair as it quickens up the process.
