Beauty On A Budget: Revlon David Jones Gift With Purchase

Welcome to my new set of posts about buying beauty on a budget. It doesn't matter if you are on a budget or just like a cheap thrill, these posts will help you find fabulous beauty buys with enough change to still buy lunch.

It will include information about GWP's, great beauty products that are low on price but still high on quality and getting the newest trends without spending a lot of money.

So onto my first post in this series...

Revlon at David Jones have started a Gift With Purchase (GWP) this week. When you spend $39.95 or more, you can pick one of two GWP packs. See here for the picture of of both packs.

There is either the "Sun Gift" (valued at $93) which is playful and colourful. It contains bright colours, or the "Sand Gift" (valued at $101) which is full of subtle more nude colours.

Yesterday when I was in the city, I dropped by the Revlon counter and received a make over, using their new ColorStay Whipped Creme Foundation. I've heard a LOT of great reviews about it and was interested to see what it was like.

It's quite a full coverage foundation, but feels light. Next she applied the ColourStay Aqua Mineral Make Up, which is a loose powder. It contains coconut water, and it actually feels wet when it's applied. It's the strangest feeling.

I also love the packaging. It has a built in brush in the lid. The brush is surprisingly great quality and feels really soft. The packaging isn't bulky so it's perfect for travelling.

I was really impressed with the powder, so I bought that, along with 2 nail polishes. Since pastels are big, I went for a mint colour and also picked out "Gold Coin" which is a gorgeous metallic gold.

Can you guess which GWP pack I picked?

If you guessed the "Sand Gift" you'd be wrong! I went with the "Sun Gift" since it's Spring in Australia tomorrow!

Lets look at it...

Can you believe I got all this for only $51.90?

It includes their "Grow Luscious" Mascara, which I am actually using at the moment. A Colorburst Lip Butter in "Peach Parfait", which is one of the only Lip Butters I don't own. A orange nail polish in "Siren". Their new Smokey Shadow Stick in "Torch" which has a rounded light pink on one end, and a pointed dark brown eyeshadow on the other end. See a swatch here. It's apart of the ColorStay range, so it will last from day to night. And lastly a 15ml sample of their CoverStay Foundation. Sadly it's only available in Natural Beige so it's wayyyyy to dark for me. But I might wear it one day when I'm at home so I can try out the formula.

While $50 isn't bargain territory, the whole value is over $144 which makes it a bargain!

I really hope you enjoyed the first addition of "Beauty On A Budget"
XO

  2. I have gold coin and it is such a great buy! It's one of my favourite shades to apply on it's own (instantly dresses up any outfit) and it's great for nail art too!
