Illamasqua's "Fight For A Fair Beauty Price"

Saturday, 4 August 2012

I was watching a Goss Make Up Artist youTube video this morning where he was talking about the crazy differences Australians pay for beauty products.

Take for example a Nars Orgasm Blush. I can buy it online from Kiss and Make Up New York for $26 + $9.95 shipping and wait for about 2-4 weeks. If I bought it instore at Mecca Cosmetica it would cost me $45. If I needed it shipped it would cost $10 express post for 1 item (3-5 business days). Now honestly what would you do? It's exactly the same product, so the majority of people would just wait the extra week or two and save at least $9-19. But how often do we just buy 1 product.....it's normally a haul ;)

Illamasqua have heard Australian's cries of beauty injustice and are doing something about it. They are planning to slash Australian prices VERY soon. But first they want us as consumers to sign a petition. It's to show that by us signing this petition and saying "If you will drop prices, we will want to order from you again" instead of ordering online overseas. If Illamasqua can show other companies that you can still lower your price but not lose money and gain a heck of a lot of customers, then there is really no reason why prices for cosmetics can't be more competitive in Australia.

You can sign the petition HERE and find out more about it.

How great would it be to be able to buy straight from the company, instead of people buying from dodgy places online (I'm looking at you Strawberry Net) that aren't authorized sellers. Buying straight from the brand ensures that you get the legit product that is safe and is fresh.

Will you be signing this petition? I know I am. I've always wanted to try Illamasqua but have honestly been put off by the price. To try out a completely foreign brand and spend $42 in Myer for a cream blush can be risky. What if I don't like it? That's $42 wasted. But if it was 30% cheaper and just under $30, then I would be less hesitant in buying.

To get the word out about the campaign, feel free to repost or link this blog post (just comment below to let me know)! Tweet, facebook, blog to everybody about the campaign and lets get a beauty revolution started!
