I'm the Goldilocks of mascaras. Finding my Holy Grail mascara has been a long (and expensive) task. I have tried many brands and many formulas, but haven't yet found my one true love mascara.
Last week I tried the Almay "One Coat Get Up and Grow" mascara. I received this in one of my Beauty Box Subscriptions. I had heard great things about it and had high expectations.
Sadly from the very first use, it did NOT gel with my lashes. I used it 5 times before giving up.
Each time I used it I had smudging below my eyes. It didn't matter how long I waited for it to dry, it kept smudging. Now I never put mascara on my bottom lashes, so it was really frustrating that it kept smudging from my top lashes.
Oddly enough, only once did I have smudging above my top lashes.
I wear glasses so I'm not sure if this attributed to the smudging. The mascara that was sent in my beauty box wasn't a waterproof formula either, so this may have also increased the smudge factor.
I liked the brush and the effect of the mascara on my lashes, but the smudge issue is something I can't handle in a mascara, no matter how amazing it makes my lashes look.
I'm really disappointed that it didn't work for me. I normally love Almay products and was hoping this would become my HG!
Have you tried this mascara? Did you find yourself in smudgeville too?
What mascara would you suggest I try next?

Lancome Doll Eyes does wonders for my eyelashes, then it falls and gives me 2 black eyes, I'm with you, I don't care how great it looks to start with, black, smudgy panda eyes are NOT on.

Me too Linny. Since I wear glasses I think it looks more obvious.
DeleteI would rather have a mascara flake than smudge! Will avoid this one I think. I wear glasses too, and if I put them on too quickly after I apply mascara, sometimes it can get on my lenses, sooooo annoying!

I've never had that problem with mascara and glasses. But that's probably because I spend so long doing my make up that the mascara has dried before I put them on ;)
DeleteIm allergic to dust and cold and my eyes become watery so frequently that I cannot dare to wear a mascara which is not waterproof..

DeleteI find it hard to find the perfect mascara for me, too! Having said that, for good colour, definition and a little volume (daytime looks) I like Maybelline Great Lash Blackest Black; their Falsies one isn't bad either though it took a few weeks to win me over! :)
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I'm always underwhelmed by Maybelline Mascaras. I have no idea why, but I'm the 1% of the beauty world that doesn't go mad for them.

Ohhh the couple of Rimmel mascaras I've tried I've HATED!!! I tried the Sexy Curves and threw it out because it was just terrible on my lashes :(

I have a Avon Shock mascara thats in my draw that I want to try. Hopefully it's as good as the one you're using.

DeleteI find Covergirl's lash blast mascara pretty damn good! It's the only one I've purchased more than once.
