13 things I want to try in 2013

As a beauty addict, there is never enough time (or money!) to try everything that I want. But over the next 12 months, these are some products that I really want to try. Some are new wants, while others have been on my list for a while but have just never been bought.

1. L'Oreal Professional SteamPod (RRP $270)

This is the most expensive item on my list, but also my most wanted (typical!).

This is a new type of hair straightener. It not only smooths your hair and leaves it silky but also treats the hair. You apply the matching keratin smoothing cream and then you "steam" your hair.

I love that it has 5 different heat settings. My old GHD doesn't have that and it's one of the things that frustrate me about it.

While it straightens the hair, you can also use it to create volume, waves and curls.

Check out this video and blog post from Styling You on what Nikki loves (and doesn't love) about the "pod."

2. Bourjois "Delice de Soleil Bronzing Powder"

I don't wear bronzer since I'm pale, but 2013 is the year I try it out (and not just for a day). This also has a chocolate scent, which is why I think it will be great to try out! Because I'm not a big bronzer person, I think a drugstore option is the best. If this happens to be sold out, then my back up plan is the Models Prefer Bronzer. At $9.99, this matte bronzer is a great way of trying out a new look. Depending on if I like using a bronzer or not, I may invest in a high end bronzer from Dior or MAC (for overseas readers, MAC is about 2 or 3 times the US price, so I'm classing it as highend).

3. Garnier "Caffeine Eye Roll-On"

I started to notice at the end of last year that I have HUGE under eye bags and some wrinkles forming. I swear they popped up overnight as I hadn't really noticed them before. So one of my new years resolutions is to invest more time (and products) into anti aging and eye care. This one this a budget product that will help get rid of dark circles and puffy eyes. I love that it's a supermarket product, which means it's easy to buy unlike my number 4.

4. Benefit's "Its Potent! Eye Cream"

Benefit have a lot of great make up, but i don't hear too much about their skincare. This is another eye cream that I want to try. Even though I'm not a huge fan of tubs, it's in the most adorable packaging!

It's on the pricer side of the spectrum, especially since Benefit are more expensive to buy instore in Australia. It's cheaper to buy directly from the US site, but there's something intoxicating about instant gratification!!

5. Maybelline's "Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer"

This is on every youTuber's favourites list or foundation routine video. This is perfect for concealing fine lines and puffiness. While I'm waiting for the eye creams to work their magic, this concealer will hide those fine lines.

6. Rimmel's Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal" eyeliner

I'm not very adventurous with eyeliner (sticking mostly with brown), so I think Rimmel's bright blue eyeliner would get me out of my comfort zone. I've heard great things about these eyeliners from UK bloggers and I can't wait to try it out for myself.

7. Rimmel's "Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss"

I've seen these on UK bloggers and youTube favourites list lately. While I'm not normally a matte girl, these lipsticks look incredible. I especially love 107, 110 and 111. They aren't available yet in Australia, but I'll be first in line when they are released. I loved that Rimmel offer great, affordable and on trend cosmetics.

8. Rimmel's "Stay Matte Pressed Powder"

I promise this will be the last Rimmel product! This is on EVERY you tubers list of must have/can't live without products. This inexpensive powder is so amazing that beauty guru's would prefer this over highend brands.

9. MAC's "Mineralize Skinfinish"

Unlike everyone else, I'm the only blogger that has never tried MAC. I've wanted to, but whenever I've gone there I have had either no customer service or terrible customer service. And since I've worked in retail since I was 15, I refuse to give my money to a company that doesn't value me (or my money). So this is something that may, or may not, be in my hands in 2013... depending on if they acknowledge me!

10. Prestige Cosmetics "Sun Baked Mineral Blush"

I've seen a lot of Aussie bloggers profess their love of Prestige cosmetics. I have previously used their products, but it was many years ago. I do remember using their blush and loved it.  I really love the look of "pink" and "peach." One great thing about these is the fact that it's multi coloured. It really just brightens your skin when you use a blush that has a mixture of two colours.

11. Lancome's "Blush Highlighter"

I adore highlighters, and especially powders since they are so quick and easy to apply. This one is a high end highlighter that I've had my eye on for months. I love how Lancome always put so much effort into their packaging.

12. Trilogy's "Rosehip Oil Antioxidant +"

I've tried many RHO's but this much loved one hasn't made it into my hands ... YET! This year I need to try this to see if it becomes my number one RHO.

13. Kosmea's "Eighth Natural Wonder Revitalising Facial Serum"

This serum is so good that it's the 8th wonder of the (beauty) world. This includes antioxidants and vitamins to give your skin a hit of anti aging and combat wrinkles. Applied over rosehip oil, it will leave your skin beautiful and glowing.

What's on your wishlist for 2013?
XO

  1. Save your money with the benefit eyecream. I LOVE Benefit and it makes up most of my make up bag, but this eye cream is over rated, expensive and ineffective!
