Trash Or Treasure: January Empties

Welcome to my very first official empties post!

There are a few reasons why I haven't done one before. The biggest reason is it's a bit like an episode of hoarders to keep trash and then show it off to others!! ;) The next is I always seem to be busy towards the end of the month and by the time I think about empties it's already way past the start of the month.

To make it easier, and much less messier, I keep my empties in a cute wicker basket. This keeps them all together (and it also makes it easier for my daughter to find and sort out!!! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. She is obsessed already with my beauty products. She already knows all about putting lipstick on!)

So here's what I've been able to get through in January...

Skincare

Biotherm "Biosource Hydra-mineral Cleanser Toning Mousse*

I adored this cleanser, and actually squeezed the very last drops from the tube. I was so sad to finish this. I would buy this in a heartbeat. It made my skin glow and was so calming on my skin.

Mirenesse "Power Clear D-Blemish Cleansing Gel"

This came in the Mirenesse December Skincare Glamm Box. It was love at first try. It has a gorgeous peppermint scent that makes it that much better than a plain smelling cleanser. It helps with blemishes but is still gentle for dryer skin. I  loved this so much that I bought a full size when they had it on special earlier in the month.

Mirenesse "Power Lift Foam Cleanser"

This is such a gorgeous foam cleanser. It's soft and has the most beautiful citrus smell. I really loved this, but after trying the "Power Clear D-Blemish Cleansing Gel," I will probably stick to that over this, purely because my skin has been freaking out and is more blemish prone.

Biotherm "Biosource Instant Hydration Toning Lotion" *

This is a really gentle toner that leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated. While I really liked it, I probably won't purchase it in the future purely because I prefer a mist/spray toner.

Mirenesse "Power Lift Day Treatment Cream"

When I first got this in the December Skincare Glamm Box, I actually thought it was a serum. I think it had something to do with the name. I soon realised that it was a moisturiser (I really need to read instructions more often!). It's a beautiful moisturiser. It's moisturising but surprisingly light. It sinks really quickly into your skin and you don't need much to cover your face, neck and chest.

I like that it's anti aging, but still light. It helps to mimimise wrinkles, plump up the skin and help with pigmentation. Pigmentation is a huge issue for me and this has really improved my skin. I bought the full size when it was on special so once I finished the sample I didn't have to live without it.

Mirenesse "Power Clear D-Blemish Thermal Pore Refiner Mask"

This is such a great mask for blemishes and enlarged pores. It smells great and my skin felt so soft and smooth after using this. This is another one that I purchased after using it, when it was on special.

EmerginC "Phytocell Cream"

I think this was in a previous LHI, and I found this was a really nice thick cream. It's probably too thick for daytime (especially under primer and make up) but I found it really nice at night time. While I liked it, I probably won't purchase it in the future.

Mirenesse "Eclipse Age Defense SPF15 Daily Face & Neck Mineral Balm"

These samples are either from their glamm box or free samples from orders I've made. I love these and actually bought a full size version. It's a great sunscreen that also works well as a daily primer. While most sunscreens make my skin oily or break out, this one doesn't. I have 3 samples of the clear version and 1 of the tinted. I liked both and don't have a preference.

Haircare

O&M "Seven Day Miracle Moisture Masque"

This is probably my favourite mask of all time! I've been using it for over a year now and nothing compares to it. It smells amazing and turns my damaged hair to silk. I've run out of it and have really noticed the difference since not using it. While I might like other masks, this is my holy grail mask that I'll always go back to.

You can read a review of it here

Keratinology by Sunsilk "Advanced Reconstruction Program Hair Spa Mask"

This is another great hair mask. It helps my damaged hair become soft and smooth. I like that it's available at the supermarket and it's a great budget mask (it's under $15). I've been using this for about a year and a half and it's my supermarket go to mask.

Schwarzkopf " Professional Quality Colour Conditioner"

This is a small conditioner that I had from a at home hair dye box. It was ok, but I was more just using it to get rid of it.

Body

Palmer's "Cocoa Butter Formula Fragrance Free" Body Lotion

This is another product that I've used for years. It's a really moisturising thick body lotion that sinks in really quickly. I find it's great to use after shaving as it calms my skin.

I prefer using the fragrance free one, so it doesn't affect my perfume.

Dove "Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash"*

I've used Dove on and off for many years and love how nourishing and gentle their body products are. This one is really beautiful if you have itchy or dry skin. I love that it's rich and thick in consistency. I'll be purchasing this again in the future.

Imperial Leather Foaming Shower Gel in "Passionflower & Jojoba"

This is such a surprising little gem. This is from one of my beauty sample boxes from a while ago, and I wish I had tried it earlier. It comes out as a gel and turns into a foam. It's so hydrating and rich. I absolutely adore it. And the smell is amazing. I would buy this again in a heartbeat! You NEED to try this!

Make Up

Almay "Truly Lasting Color Pressed Powder"

I loved using this. I had it in my bag for on the go touch ups, as well as using it in the morning for setting my make up. It's soft and natural in texture on your skin. I also love that it is light enough for my pale skin. I was sad to see this go. I'll repurchase this once I've finished up my current powders.

Expired Products

I'm currently going through my make up and trying to get rid of old make up to make way for new make up. These 3 products are all great products, but have been sitting in my make up collection for WAY too long.

Almay "Bright Eyes" Eyeliner

This has actually been in my make up bag for so long that the name has actually worn off! I remember that I really used to like this, but haven't used it in a while. It is dual ended, with a dark brown eyeliner on one end and a nude colour on the other. It's a really creamy consistency and even though I don't wear eyeliner often, I really liked this.

Australis Lip Gloss in "Juicey"

I've loved Australis for a long time and they have fantastic lip products. This one was a gorgeous bright colour, but it's been open for a long time and has to be binned.

Sportsgirl mini lipgloss

This was in a gift set I bought in their Xmas sales, but the thing is I can't remember what year!!! I think it was 3 years ago, so it has to go. I really loved it as it was long lasting and moisturising. I'll have to go to Sportsgirl and get more of their lip glosses as they are a great budget lip gloss.

So that's my empties for the month. Overall, I'm really happy with these empties. The majority of the products were things I loved and would repurchase.

For Feb, I'm planning on trying to throw out more old cosmetics and also using up more of my beauty box samples as I have WAY too many.

Have you tried any of these?

  1. Wow. I didn't realise Palmer's had a fragrance free lotion! 0_o I always hated using their cocoa butter because of the overpowering scent. Seriously, where have you been all my life?
