First Impressions: LÓreal Shine Caresse Lip Colour in "Princess"

Sunday, 24 March 2013

Recently L'Oreal released the "Shine Caresse Lip Colours" in Australia. They're called the "Color Caresse Wet Shine Stain" in the US and "GlamShine Stain Splash" in the UK.

I had heard about them for a while from blogs and youTube, but only bought one last week because they were on sale for only $16.76 at Priceline. They normally retail for $23.95.

Firstly, the packaging is really sleek and beautiful. It looks much more expensive than a "drugstore" lip product.

The lip applicator is really interesting. It's not a shape I've used before, and actually had reservations about how easy it would be to apply.

But once I used it I was converted!! The shape helps it contour to the curves of your lips and is surprisingly easy to use.

When I first applied it, what I noticed is the feeling of the lip stain. It feels surprisingly wet. Like water wetness on your lips.

After a while it ends up drying (goodbye wet feeling) but still is really quite shiny.

I had about 4 hours of glossy bold lips (which included eating lunch) before the colour started to fade. What I was really impressed with was the fact that my lips didn't feel dry... AT ALL!! I'm addicted to lip balm and didn't apply any for about 4-5 hours while using this!

Overall I'm really happy with it, and will be purchasing more!

A lot of bloggers have compared these to the YSL Glossy Stain. I haven't used it, so I can't compare but the L'Oreal lip stain feels much more expensive than its price tag!

Have you tried these yet?

  1. I haven't tried these as I have heard they stick to dry patches on your lips.. but only one blogger has mentioned that so it may be in the majority. I own a few YSL glossy stains and LOVE them.

  2. I do like these, I think that the paler shades don't have enough opacity to cover my natural pigmentation/natural lip liner but some of the darker ones are really stunning! They also leave a pretty considerable stain behind, I was swatching for an upcoming post and couldn't get rid of the stain for a day, even with makeup remover!

  5. I really want to try this lip colour but I have got way too much lip products so won't be buying one anytime soon. I have tried a sample of the YSL Glossy Stain and it definitely looks very similar. I love that colour it's gorgeous!!

  6. Chelsea... I haven't found that, but I make sure I exfoliate my lips before applying lipsticks and stains. It helps a lot :)

MM... Hahahaha I had my swatch on my arm for maybe 3 minutes before using a make up removing wipe to get rid of it and it stained it all day!

Tiggy...I've heard that too!!! L'Oreal seems to be doing a lot of "duping" lately, which is great for us on a budget :)

Mandy... You should try them! Priceline or Target normally have a sale on L'Oreal, which makes them much more affordable.

Ina J...It's such a pretty colour. I know what you mean about too many lip products. I really need to do either a "spring clean" or rotate my lip products, as I tend to stick with the same ones constantly lol
