These are a few of my favourite things... February Favourites 2013

Saturday, 2 March 2013

It's already the end of February and it's time to do my monthly favourites!

Honestly, there's not really a lot of new favourites this month, but it's due to the fact that I've been trying to use up a lot of the samples that I have. So nearly everyday I've been using something different.

There have been a few things that I have used throughout the month that I've really loved. Here they are...

Make Up

Mirenesse "Crown Princess Skin Perfect Pores Foundation"

I don't want to say too much about this as I'm wanting to give it its own post. But what I will say is that it really surprised me. I didn't like it at first, but as I used it and played around with different applications, I grew to really love it. It's quite moisturising, so oily skins might not like it. But for dry skin, or even at winter time, it's a winner!

Lancome " UV Expert BB Complete"*
This BB cream is unlike other ones I've tried. It not only has SPF50, but it also is more like an invisible tint. It really does give your skin an airbrushed looked. I love to use this as a primer or wear by itself just around the house. It helps to give my pigmentation the boot and it's so lightweight.

Napoleon Perdis "Camera Finish Foundation"

This was a favourite last month. I adore this and am so close to finishing it. I'm going to try a different powder or two, but most likely will go back to this. It's incredible.

Bourjois Blush in "34"

Another favourite from last month. I use this so much. It's such a gorgeous pink with a golden shimmer that makes my skin glow. It also smells like candy! I really should try another blush, but I can't give this one up.

Mirenesse "Inside Out 27hr Eye Kohl" Eyeliner*

This was kindly sent to me to trial and I've been having a lot of fun trying them out. I already own 3 of them but was sent a few bright colours and have been having fun using bright blues and purples as my eyeliner. I normally do really boring nude eyes, so it's been interesting to see how bright colours impact my green eyes. Look out for a post soon.

Rimmel  Vinyl Gloss in "Fashion Icon (270)"

I've actually owned this for months, but have lately really been adoring this lip gloss. It's great for a quick hit of colour when you're in a rush. You can wear it sheer for a subtle colour or layer it to pump up the impact.

Maybelline "Baby Lips" Lip Balm

I'm quite late on the Baby Lips train, but finally tried them this month. I find them so moisturising and great. My local Woolies has the original ones on sale for between $2-3, so I'll have to stock up! Even though I have bought hundreds of lip balms, they always seem to go missing, along with my bobby pins and hair ties.

Skincare

Aum "Firming Eye Cream"*

The last eye cream I tried didn't impress me. I didn't see any difference at all. Luckily with this one, I have seen a difference. A little bit goes a long way and I've noticed that it's helped with my fine lines. It's creamy in texture and sinks in quickly. I'm so impressed and will do a review on it in the next week or two. With any skincare I love to trial it for at least a month before reviewing.
But so far I love it.

Mirenesse "Endless Youth Magic Beads Botanical Cleanser"
Some things you try and find that they are nice, while others will really impress you. THIS impressed me so much. I "Ohhh-ed" and "Ahh-ed" and even said "Oh WOW." If you were outside my bathroom you would have been worried with what was happening!!! I adored this from the very first use and the next day I bought the full size.

Natio "Rosewater and Chamomile Gentle Skin Toner"

I normally use a spray toner/mist as I find them really hydrating, but I'm really surprised at how much I like this. I apply it with a make up pad, and it sinks into my skin quickly. It feels really hydrating, especially when you keep it in the fridge.

Haircare

Organix "Coconut Milk Leave In Nourishing Milk"
I really love to use a spray leave in conditioner daily to help hydrate my hair and also detangle it. My all time favourite is one by Fudge. But this is a great one too. It smells insanely beautiful and leaves my hair smelling nice all day.

Tangle Teezer Brush

I've had my Tangle Teezer since October, and I don't think I've ever mentioned it. It's amazing at detangling, and I even use it on my daughters hair. I want to buy another one to keep in my handbag, as this gets put in and out of my bag constantly. I love using it to brush out my curls to give them a more relaxed look.

And also there's an added extra.

Last week I went to Woolworths and picked up a 2 pack of face washers. I think it was only $2-3. There's nothing special about it, but I've really loved using them and will pick up more. I normally don't use a wash cloth, but now I can't live without it!

Do you have any favourites?
XO

  1. I had the same experience with the Magic Beads Cleanser from Mirenesse. I had to use it once more before purchasing the full size to ensure I didn't make up how amazing it was!

  3. Looking forward to your review of Mirenesse "Crown Princess Skin Perfect Pores Foundation", I'm thinking of trying it...
Also can you recommend a good mineral powder foundation to use over zinc based sunscreen suitable for sensitive skin, preferably paraben and nano free, and of course Australian.

    Thanks

  4. Hi Nev, I really haven't used a lot of mineral powder foundations so I can't really recommend one that I personally use and like, but I've heard great things about Youngblood, or Vani-T. I know that Mirenesse do two

This one is only available in 2 colours, so I've linked the sample size. It might be better to try that out first, just incase it's the wrong colour.

While they aren't Australian, Bare Minerals are HUGE in the US. They are the number 1 selling make up brand there. So they would be also great to try.

    I hope this helps :)

  5. Thanks a lot, Beauty. I've ordered samples of Mirenesse powders, I recently discovered their skincare and really like it, signed to their VIP program mainly to get the discounts and free shipping, and that's how I've found your blog, looking for reviews of Mirenesse. I know there are probably better international cosmetics and skincare, however I'm prefer my money to stay here in Australia, I'm sick of the outsourcing and local people losing their jobs.

RE mineral powders, I honestly don't know what else to use over mineral sunscreen. I'm trying to get use to use sunscreen daily, haven't leaved very long in Australia, but the sun managed to damage my skin, I'm not good at cosmetics or skincare, just found somewhere as advise to use mineral powder over sunscreen as a good combination.

Great blog, it's really useful for someone like me:)))looking forward to more reviews...

    Thanks, again:))
