The Jojoba Company "100% Natural Make Up Remover" Review

Monday, 3 June 2013

It's no surprise that I'm obsessed with make up. Buying make up, swatching make up and wearing make up brings me a lot of (superficial) joy. But at the end of the day, it all needs to come off, and that's where sometimes problems arise.

While I love micellar waters for days when I'm too lazy to really clean my face, I adore oil cleansers. They really give your face a thorough clean and can be fantastic for sensitive and oily skin.

The newest oil cleanser that I've used is the The Jojoba Company's  "100% natural make up remover." I bought this because I do like to try and use more natural skincare, and I've never used anything from The Jojoba Company before.

I originally wanted their "Jojoba Balancing Cleansing Oil" but my local chemist didn't have it in stock.

Unlike other oil based cleansers I've used before, this one you apply 2 pumps of the oil to a make up pad and then wipe your face with it. I'm used to the oil you apply onto your face that's runny in consistancy, and then wipe off with a damp warm face washer.

One thing that I like about this one, is that it's less messy. It's a great product to take away with you when you're travelling, as it's 100mls.

While I use it as directed when I can't be bothered to shower before bed, I do normally pump 5 times into my hand and apply the oil like other oil cleansers. Since I'm in the shower, it doesn't matter that it gets a bit messy.

Unlike most cleansing oils, this has a gorgeous smell. It's an orange smell and is really uplifting.

The cardboard packaging is really simple but beautiful.

One thing that I really love about the outer packaging is the fact that it tells me everything I need to know about the product, the company and the ingredients. Everything is there and is simple and easy to read.

TJC are Australian made and owned and they also don't test on animals.

I like that the packaging lets you know that the colour of the oil may vary over time, and that it goes off after 12 months.

I've enjoyed using this, and am interested in trying other products from the brand. They have a starter pack that looks great (Sweetaholic Beauty has reviewed it here) that has 7 mini products for only $59.95. They also have some great anti aging products (like the CoQ10 Antioxidant Serum and the 100% Ultimate Jojoba Youth Potion) and also their Redness Reducing Balm sounds like the perfect summer product for sunburns.

The only negative that I can say about this, is the fact that it's not easily available for everyone. You can find your closest stockist here. It costs $29.95, but even with everyday use over the last month, I've only used a third of it.

Have you used anything from The Jojoba Company before?

  5. I love this! Have been wanting to try Jojoba for a while now because I've heard so many good things! Will look into the starter pack as well, it looks fabulous. I love it when a cleansing oil can do makeup removing and cleansing at the same time. I'll have to check out Jojoba next time I'm at the pharmacy x
