Pro's In The Know: Interview with Priceline Cosmetics Buyer Susie Bearzi

Friday, 16 August 2013

If you're a regular reader, you'll know that I have a bit of an obsession with Priceline. I can get all of my skincare, make up and body products all in one place, and also get amazing specials and GWP deals too!

One of the people that fills up the store with amazing brands is Senior Cosmetics Buyer Susie Bearzi. Susie has one of the best beauty jobs around. Apart of her job is to know what's the next biggest thing and what brands are about to be the newest hyped brand.

I was lucky enough to be able to have an e-interview with Susie and ask 10 very important questions.

Read on to find out what brands and products Susie loves, as well as a sneak peak into what you'll be seeing on the shelves very soon!

...

When you step into a Priceline store, which aisle do you go to first?

Being the buyer for cosmetics, I always head to the cosmetics aisle first to check on the displays in store and I get excited when I see that the new lines have arrived and are being shopped by our trend-seeking customers.

Models Prefer "Infinite Colour Shadow Pencil"

If I gave you $50 to spend at Priceline, what products would you pick up?

It would definitely be hard to narrow it down, but I would start with some of my favourites!  Models Prefer Infinite Colour Shadow Pencil in down to earth would be at the top of my shopping list; it’s such an awesome product that’s so easy to apply and lasts all day!  I would also pick up the Models Prefer Mousse Away Foaming Cleanser and treat myself to some John Frieda Root Awakening Shampoo & Conditioner.  Of course if I shopped during the catalogue sale I could add some more goodies to my basket with $50 to spend!

What's your skincare routine like?

I cleanse, tone and moisturise in the morning to ensure my skin is prepped ready to apply my makeup starting with my favourite Models Prefer Mattifying Primer and then I repeat at night to remove all traces and give my skin a chance to rest ready to start all over again the next day! I’ve been trying the new Pond’s Gold Radiance range to keep me looking young!

Nivea "In Shower Rich Body Lotion"

What are your favourite budget brands?

Of course Models Prefer and Savvy would have to be two of my favourite affordable brands.  The products truly are amazing – I wouldn’t put them in if they didn’t live up to my very high quality standard!  They deliver equivalent quality to some prestige brands without the prestige price-tag!  I also love Nivea body products.  Definitely reliable brands that you can trust to provide superior quality at a great price.

How do you decide what new brands and products Priceline stocks?

We search the globe looking at trends and brands in different countries.  This is through a combination of travelling to leading stores around the world, reading magazines, trawling through the internet and speaking with our suppliers.  We have the best range of brands available that meet the needs and wants of our customers and are always looking for the next opportunity to bring excitement and new news to the category.

If you could stock any brand or product (that you currently don't stock), what would it be?

Too Faced cosmetics & Urban Decay would be high of my list. These are two amazing brands that would add to our current assortment and provide a point of difference to what we currently have in our stores.

Nude By Nature "Natural Mineral Cover" Foundation

Is there any product that you've been surprised or shocked at it's popularity?

Nude by Nature Mineral foundation continues to blow me away every week with the phenomenal sales that it consistently achieves.

Rimmel "Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick"

What are your holy grail products (Essential products that you can't live without)?

Eyeliner, Mascara, Foundation, Primer, Eyeshadow & Lipstick: Models Prefer Skinny Liner, Models Prefer BIGlash Mascara, Revlon ColorStay Whipped Crème Foundation, Models Prefer Mattifying Primer, and my Models Prefer Infinite Colour Shadow Pencil.  For a touch of colour on my lips, I can’t go past Rimmel’s Kate Moss Lasting Finish lipstick (and my high heels! Yes, I am one of those girls that can’t leave the house without being made up!).

Do you find that the Australian beauty market is different than overseas? For example, do we tend to sell more bronzers/sunscreen/brighter lips than other countries. Or do you notice a difference in best sellers from state to state?

The Australian beauty market is very similar to overseas markets – we truly are living in a global environment where trends overseas quickly filter through to Australia or even happen concurrently.  With the close link of cosmetics and fashion, customers see what is happening on the international stage and want to be able to buy in to the looks straight away.  We are finding less and less delay between products launching overseas and in our market which is great!  If anything, our Australian customers are very conscious of their social responsibility and are looking for products that are not harmful to the environment or themselves.

And finally, what amazing brands or products can we expect to see in the aisles of Priceline very soon?

One of the most exciting reasons to shop at Priceline is the fact that we are always first to bring new products to the market in an exciting way with great offers.  We have new products being launched across the store almost every week!  Some of my favourites that have just arrived or are coming very soon are: Essie nail enamel, Revlon Nearly Naked foundation & powder, Models Prefer CC Colour Correcting & DD Daily Detox Beauty Balms and an extensive range of new Models Prefer lipsticks and glosses are due to hit stores soon.  With Christmas also not too far away, we will also have some fantastic gift packs arriving from September – always a reason to come into Priceline Pharmacy every week!

Thanks so much Susie for taking the time to answer my questions. I can't wait for the Models Prefer CC and DD products!

...

I really hope that you enjoyed the e-interview with Susie! It's always fun to get a "back stage" look into what goes on behind the scenes.

Don't forget to check out the Priceline catalogue here to see the amazing specials they have, like 50% off ALL Maybelline and 2 Revlon Nearly Naked products for only $30, until Monday the 26th of August!

If you could talk to Susie and tell her what brand or product you would love to see in Priceline, what would it be?
XO

  3. I keep hearing about the Models Pefer shadow pencils, I'm going to have to try one of those the next time I go to Priceline. My favourite lip product right now is the Models Prefer Moisture Lust Glossy Lip Tint in Candy Licious. It's the most comfortable lip product I've ever tried, and Candy Licious is such a wearable colour. I would really like it if Priceline stocked Urban Decay. Would be great if that happened one day. Actually, I'd like them to stock benefit too :D. Thanks for sharing this great interview. Amy.

  5. It'd be great if Priceline could stock Too Faced and Urban Decay! But personally, I think it'd be better if these two brands were in Department Stores with a makeup artist at the counter. :)
