Protecting Primer: ELES "Retexturizing Face Primer" Review

For the last 4 months, my skin has gone haywire from side effect from the pill. My previously smooth skin has become congested and bumpy. One of the most annoying parts of the congested isn't visible pimples, but the braille like texture you can see.

While make up can help to camouflage the redness and pimples, it can sometimes highlight the bumpiness (especially dewy illuminating formulas). I've always used a creamy, almost moisturiser like, primer but because of the bumpy skin it just wasn't cutting it.

Enter ELES "Retexturizing Face Primer." It has a silicone feel, but unlike other silicone primers that I've previously tried, it didn't feel like a mask. Actually I didn't feel it at all!!!

It's so easy to apply and sinks into the skin without a lot of effort, which is nice on those days when you're in a hurry. It also makes applying my foundation or BB cream much quicker and easier.

Whenever I wear this, I find that my bumpiness isn't as obvious. It also helps my foundation last for longer.

One of my favourite things about this primer is the fact that it has SPF 20 sun protection that's broad spectrum (meaning it protects from UVA and UVB rays). It also contains vitamins A&C to give an antioxidant boost that's great for anti-aging.

The tube easily dispenses the product and I know that it's safe in my bag when I'm travelling.

I really love the fact that ELES products are very visible about the ingredients. It contains information on their packaging about the "drug facts" and its purpose so if you're unsure about a ingredient, it makes it easy to search for it on Google. I wish more companies would do this.

It also includes a sentence about keeping this product from heat and the sun, and has information about sun protection (such as limited sun exposure when the sun is at its peak from 10am-2pm).

It contains 28g and costs $64.25. While the cost is on the higher end of primers, I really believe that it's worth it as you don't need a lot, and it can be used for 12 months from opening.

You can purchase it from the ELES website here. They also have another primer that is for reducing pores and oil, which you can see here.

For the month of August (2013), when you purchase $100 or more you receive a Bronzer duo of your choice (there are 4 shades to choose from, which you can see here).

How often do you use a primer?
XO

PS I've reviewed their concealer previously here, which is AMAZING. The more I use it the more I love it!

I was kindly sent this for consideration. All thoughts and views are completely my own, and are always 100% honest. See my disclosure policy here.

  1. This sounds great! It's a shame you've had a reaction to the pill. I've come off it in the past 6 months and my skin is only just settling! So annoying. I've been trying out some ELES products as well and I've been really impressed so far :)
