Max Factor "CC Cream" Review

When I first heard about CC creams, the skeptical part of me rolled my eyes and thought that it was just a money making opportunity and brands were just jumping on the BB bandwagon.

CC stands for colour correcting. Unlike BB creams that are similar to tinted moisturisers (or light foundations), a CC cream is more like skincare. It's like photoshop for your skin!

Two of the most blogged about CC creams have to be from Clinique and Max Factor. Because my bank account didn't like the $45 Clinique price tag, I picked up the Max Factor CC Cream from Priceline earlier this month when they had $7 off Max Factor products.

The Max Factor CC Cream retails for $19.95 for 30ml. There are 6 shades available, so there's one for nearly every skin colour around. I picked up "Fair" which is the second to lightest. Normally I would get the lightest colour, but found that "Light" was a bit pink.

I'm so glad that I picked this up. It's very versatile and is idiot proof. I use this in a few different ways. The main way that I use this is to apply it to my skin by itself. It helps give me the illusion of much better skin. My skin doesn't look so red, my blemishes are less obvious and my skintone looks more even. It's perfect for those days when you don't want to wear make up, but also don't want naked skin.

Other times I like to use this as a base for under mineral make up. If I'm in a hurry (or am just too lazy) to layer mineral foundation to have medium to full coverage, then this is perfect. I apply this, then a layer of mineral foundation and I have enough coverage to hide my imperfections without spending too much time creating a flawless look.

It can also be used as a base underneath foundation for a full coverage, flawless finish .I've only used it underneath a liquid foundation once. Although that was used as a base underneath Borjois "Healthy Mix Foundation," which a light coverage foundation.

It contains SPF 10, while the Clinique one is SPF 30. For me, I use a sunscreen everyday, so I'm not fussed about the low SPF on my other face products like foundations.

I really like the simple packaging. It's in a plastic tube and has a screw top lid. It's perfect for travelling or keeping in your gym bag if you want to use it after working out.

  1. Interesting! CC Cream is something I haven't really hopped on board with (I have tried one brand - Rachel K Cosmetics). I am not in the market for one at the moment as I have been so lazy even with my BB creams and foundation! But if I ever want to proper try them out, I'd be going for this Max Factor one :)

  3. I really enjoy this CC Cream! I was surprised to but the shade match was really good (I wear Light) and the coverage is good. I would say I like this better than my much more expensive Chanel CC Cream :)

  4. The coverage of this CC cream is better than most that I've seen, and I know how you feel on those days when you don't want a full face of makeup, yet not fully okay with going naked skin haha
Does this product have any scents?

  5. Mandy - I know what you mean about BB and foundations. I go through phases where I stick with one product (currently it's this! )

Sarah - You won't be disappointed with this :)

Steph - Ahh that's interesting. I love Chanel foundations. Luckily you like this more!! It's so much more cheaper (especially when Priceline have it one special!)

Twoplicates - It has a slightly botanical scent. I really like it!
