These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things... January 2014

It's already time for my first favourites of the year and there's a mixture of favourites from last year and also some new favourites.

Adelaide has been very very hot and so I've been using more skincare and less make up.

Here's my most reached for and loved products from January.

Skincare

Bioderma Crealine AR Anti-Redness*

I've dealt with redness for a long time and find that this is one of the best products to help conceal it!

It has a gorgeous, light consistency that also feels cooling and calming on your skin. It has a slight green tinge that helps to neutralise redness. I find because it has the consistency of a moisturiser, it makes it easier to rub in and you're not left with a "Hulk" like face.

Bioderma Crealine H20 Micellar Water*

While I might not always feel like washing my face at the end of the day, I know that I need to. A micellar water is perfect since it's really easy to use and very quick too.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo*

Adelaide has been incredibly hot lately and I've been using this to not only stop shine but also stop any breakouts. I didn't use it every day, just when I felt like I needed to.

DrLeWinn's 4 Fusion Cleansing Oil

This is my holy grail oil cleanser/make up remover. It smells amazing and is so effective at quickly and easily removing make up.

The bottle is 200mls and lasted months, even though I use it 4-7 nights a week. I've just finished this bottle. Instead of buying another bottle, I've purchased a different cleanser (a cleansing balm) as I've been using the brand since July last year and was looking to try out something different. But I'll most likely purchase this again very very soon.

I've previously reviewed this here

Jurlique Calendula Redness Rescue Soothing Moisturising Cream*

This is the moisturiser from Jurlique's newest range. It's all about calming sensitive skin and reducing redness. There are 3 products and I've really been loving the moisturiser.

I love the feeling of this moisturiser. It's slightly thicker but still feels light and soft on the skin. I've been using this even though it's been hot and I haven't felt oily, shiny or broke out at all.

Biore Daily Detoxifying Scrub*

I've loved Biore for so many years and recently started using the Daily Detoxifying Scrub. This has small exfoliating beads in it that softly and gently exfoliates my skin without upsetting it or feeling rough. It also contains chamomile and aloe to soothe your skin.

Nude By Nature Nude Oil Free Moisturiser*

I've been using the Nude By Nature oil free moisturiser for the last 2 months and have been really impressed with it. It helps to keep oil in check, without making my skin feel dry.

The packaging is great. It has a pump applicator that makes it quick and easy to use.

Nude By Nature Nude Daily Cleanser*

Sadly I just finished this the other day. It's a beautiful gel cleanser that's high in vitamin C and also has witch hazel and vitamin E. Even though it's a gel formula it doesn't dry out my skin. It has a really strange scent, but I really love it.

Uriage Soothing Repair Barrier Lip Balm*

Uriage created this lip balm for those on Roaccutane. One of the side effects of using Roaccutane is dry lips and this balm hydrates your lips for up to 4 hours. It's long lasting and provides instant relief of dry or chapped lips.

It's also paraben and fragrance free.

Uriage Thermal Water*

This thermal water spray sits in my fridge and is always on hand to cool me down. I use this as a toner, to calm my skin if I'm suffering from redness or sunburn and also to set my make up. It's my ultimate thermal spray.

I'm nearly out of this, but will be purchasing one once I've finished the Avene one that I have. Once I've finished the Avene one, I will only ever purchase the Uriage one!! It's that good.

People For Plants Rose Otto, Burdock, Kakadu Plum Mist Toner

I've really been getting into People For Plants and really love this mist toner. It's nice and refreshing and feels beautiful to apply after I've washed my face.

Paula's Choice RESIST C15 Super Booster

I purchased this recently and have been loving using it. It contains 15% vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and vitamin E to give you an even skintone and clear skin.

It has a really unusual consistency. It feels similar to water so it can sometimes be a little bit unusual to use.

I've been using this and have already noticed a difference in my skintone. I'll be ordering another bottle very soon.

Make Up

Australis "Tint My Brow" Brow Tint*

I have barely touched a brow product since getting this!! It's perfect for the summer weather because it tints the hair, instead of drawing it onto your skin. I don't have to worry about it sweating off. It's really easy to use and the colour is perfect for my skintone.

I picked this up when I was sent a Priceline gift voucher. You can see what else I bought here

Max Factor CC Cream

With it being so hot, I haven't felt like wearing a lot of make up. This CC cream is lightweight yet helps to conceal some of my redness and uneven skintone, but still looks natural. It has a gorgeous botanical scent.

I love using this!!

Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent Powder

To keep my make up in place, and also to keep it from looking shiny, I've been using this daily. I love that this is so light on the skin and doesn't look cakey.

Covergirl Flamed Out Shadow Pencil*

I've been using these Covergirl cream eyeshadow sticks either by itself or with a powder to set it. I have 2 colours (a pink and a brown) and they really do hold up in the 40 degree Adelaide heat.

ModelCo Blush Cheek Powder in "Peach Bellini"

This blush came as a magazine GWP (a while ago) and I've been using it so much at the moment. It's a gorgeous colour that isn't too coral. It has a slightly pink undertone that flatters my skintone. Corals can be difficult for me to wear, so I need pink undertones to stop the orange washing me out.

It has a sheen that looks gorgeous. When I wear this I don't use a highlighter as it gives my skin a gorgeous glow.

Taken under a skylight

Taken near a window with natural light

It reminds me slightly of my beloved ELES blush in "Coral Sun." You can see swatches of that here

Body

Aveeno Stress Relief Body Wash

This is the second bottle that I've used and I'm sure it won't be the last. I love to use this at night. Whenever I use it, I always get a really great sleep. It contains lavender, chamomile and ylang ylang. It has a gorgeous scent that isn't too old lady smelling.

Rexona Clinical Protection Deodorant

With Adelaide reaching 40+ degrees many times in January, deodorant is a must. This version is for people that sweat a lot. You apply this at night and it lasts the following day, even if you have a shower.

What I love about this is that I can apply it at night and be able to shave the next morning and not have to worry about using a deodorant and causing irritation under my arms.

It costs around $15, so it's more expensive that your average deodorant but it works amazingly. It's not my everyday deodorant, just for when Adelaide is melting.

Has there been anything that you loved in January? Do you change your make up in summer?
Amy, XO

  1. Hey Amy,
Great blog! I am always reading it....just never gotten around to commenting yet.
I read your review ages ago for the Dr Lewinns Cleansing Oil, went out and bought it and have used it every night since! Just today bought my second bottle of it (I am stoked as my local pharmacy I shop at sells it for $19.95 all the time). It is the best for getting off my makeup!! I have started applying it, then get a warm wet face washer and wash it off that way! My skin is left so soft and clean.
So thanks for the great blog and reviews....really enjoy reading it all.
