Antipodes "Grapeseed Butter Cleanser" Review

Antipodes is a New Zealand skincare and make up brand that I fell in love with last year. They're an organic brand that also uses science to create products that are not only great for your skin, but that also work.

If you're a regular reader, you know that I adore my Dr LeWinn's 4 Fusion Cleansing Oil (which I've previously reviewed here), but after using it for about 8 months I was looking at trying something new.

I had seen quite a lot of beauty bloggers rave about the "Grapeseed Butter Cleanser" so I picked it up from David Jones back in February.

I really wasn't sure how I'd feel about it as the only other cleansing balm that I've used was the Lush "Ultrabland" and I wasn't a fan of it.

It contains cacao butter with olive to help moisturise and soothe, as well as harekeke oil for its antibacterial qualities. It also has Vinanza Grape extract, which is full of antioxidants that help repair free radical damage. It contains chamomile and lavender to help calm and soothe sensitive skin.

Even though this is a butter that contains oils, its fantastic for oily skin as it helps to balance the skins oil production.

It's surprisingly easy to use. I like to apply this onto my face in a circular motion, trying to remove my make up. I use a warm damp facewash to remove it. I then follow up with my regular cleanser to make sure that my make up is completely removed.

Because of the ingredients and consistency of this butter, you do need to take a minute or two to remove it. You need a cloth to remove it, so I always make sure that I have a clean facewash ready to use it with.
The only think that I don't like about it is the fact that it does stain my facewash cloth. Luckily I just use cheap ones from Woolworths, so it doesn't matter much. '

The packaging is really simple. It's in a tub that's easy to use. I like to keep mine outside of the shower to keep it safe from water or heat.

It's on the pricier side, $46.00 for 75gm, but I really feel it's worth it. Before using this I was having dry patches on my skin, but since using this I haven't had any dry issues.

It has a use by date of 6 months from when you open it, as well as a use by date printed on the outer packaging (mine was Feb 2016, so it has a long shelf life).

Because of the organic content, you will find that each tub looks different. The colour and consistency can be slightly different.

Antipodes is available from selected Myers, David Jones and is now available at Priceline (which makes my heart sing!). You can also purchase from their online shop here.

Do you prefer a butter cleanser or an oil?
Amy, XO

PS Keep this away from your partner!! My hubby thought that it was a shower body product. Moral of the story, he was left with a very soft body and I was left with half of my cleanser gone :(

  1. Have you tried the Clinique Take the Day Off Balm? I recently reviewed it and I love everything bar the price!

    1. I haven't tried it, although I've heard some good things about it. Caroline Hirons raves about it, so I'll have to pick it up very soon :)

Hahahah I know what you mean about the price.
