These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things: August Favourites

Sunday, 31 August 2014

In August, I mostly stuck to my old favourites and holy grails, with a few new products added into the mix.

Brushes

Nude By Nature Mineral Brush

I've ditched the foundation recently and have been loving using my Nude By Nature Mineral Foundation (which I blogged about here).

Previously I've used whatever brush I had clean to apply the foundation powder, but this month I've been obsessed with the matching NBN brush.

It's a brush that deserves a lot of praise. It's the perfect size (not too big or not too small), has a handle which makes application a breeze and it comes in at a little itty bitty price (only $14.95). I'm tempted to buy another one (or three) of these!

Rae Morris Ultimate Cheek-bone Brush

The other brush that I've been obsessed with is my Rae Morris cheek brush. It's unlike most cheek brushes, due to it's unusual shape. I've been using this to apply my blush.

I like that I can apply blush with the brush, as well as use it to really buff it in with a simple turn of my wrist. This can also be used as a highlighter, bronzer or contour brush.

Make Up

Arbonne Sheer Finish Tinted Moisturiser*

This is an amazing tinted moisturiser that I've been using in 2 different ways. I like to use it as a replacement primer and use it underneath my mineral make up. Otherwise it's a great light coverage base to use under a setting powder.

It's a bit pricey ($51), but I only need a small amount so it will last for months and months and months.

Benefit Gimme Brow in "Light"*

This has been raved about in the beauty community and for good reason.... it's brilliant!

It's perfect for anyone that has no idea how to do their brows. It gives enough pigment to give the illusion of thicker, fuller, more defined brows in a matter of seconds. It's fool-proof.

It also has a gorgeous scent!

ModelCo Blush Cheek Powder in "Peach Bellini"

As you can tell from the above picture, this is a much used and much loved blush. It gives a gorgeous radiant glow and is perfect for perking up a pale complexion.

It's highly pigmented, so a little bit goes a long way.

ELES Mineral Blush in "Coral Sun"*

Of course it's not a favourites without mention of this.

The ModelCo blush reminds me of this, except for the fact that this is much more finely milled and gives more of a radiant glow.

I've had this for over a year now and still love it. Even though I use this multiple times a week, I've barely made a dent in it!

If I was only able to wear one blush for the rest of my life... it would be this one!!!

I've previously reviewed this here

Skincare

Nivea Pure & Natural Milk & Honey Lip Balm*

I mentioned this in my lip post earlier this week (here) and again it's featured in my favourites!

It's a great, basic lip balm that helps to moisturise your lips. I like that it isn't glossy or thick. It's also inexpensive ($4.49).

Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream

I adore Antipodes products and this one didn't disappoint. It's a lightweight moisturiser that works well underneath my sunscreen.

It has a gorgeous scent, that isn't too overpowering. I've bought the full size version for when I finish this 10ml trial size.

Antipodes Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream

This Antipodes night cream is a beautiful moisturiser that isn't too heavy or oily. If you have oily skin, you could use this as a day cream and it still feel comfortable underneath make up.

I'm planning on picking up the full size of this next time Priceline has their 40% off skincare sale as this is slightly on the pricey side at $49 for 60ml. Luckily a little bit goes a long way, so it will last you for months (the same with the day cream).

Clinique City Block Sheer Oil-free Daily Face Protector SPF25

This one was an impulse buy a few months ago when Clinique had one of their amazing GWP deals. I knew I wanted to get their cleansing balm and picked this up on a whim, without knowing anything about it or reading any reviews.

I've been really happy with this. It's an oil free sunscreen and doesn't feel or look greasy on my skin. It works well underneath my make up too.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

This was recommended to me by a reader (Thank you!!!) and I've fallen in love with it. It has a beautiful consistency and works quickly and easily to remove my make up.

Even if you don't wear make up often, this is a great cleanser to remove sunscreen.

Hair

bHave Rescue Intense Repair Shampoo & Conditioner*

Lately my hair has been very dry and damaged and this duo have brought it back to life. They're my holy grail, can't live without shampoo and conditioner.

While I'll always try new hair products, I'll ALWAYS go back to these as I get amazing results. When I use these, I don't have to do as much to my hair when it comes to styling. I can airdry my hair, apply some hair oil and I'm left with soft, frizz free hair.

Kevin.Murphy Young.Again Immortelle Infused Treatment Oil*

This is a new product that I've been using and it's love. It has a beautiful texture. It feels heavy when I have it on my fingers, but sinks into my hair and feels light and silky once I've applied it. It sounds unusual but it works like magic.

I also love the packaging. It looks glamorous but is surprisingly in a plastic bottle, so it's great for travelling or for those that are clumsy and are prone to break glass bottles (which is me!).

Body

Beyonce Heat Wild Orchid Eau de Parfum*

I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of celebrity scents. A lot have a cheap smell (in terms of quality ingredients) and are overly sweet.

This Beyonce perfume is nothing like that. I haven't smelt any of her other perfumes, so I can't compare them but this one is light and refreshing. It's a feminine mix of floral and fruit scents, with a base of amber and musk.

When I first spray it, it's floral but after an hour the musk scent appears more obvious. I find that the scent lasts for 5-6 hours. I now want to go and try her other perfumes.

MooGoo Fresh Cream Deodorant

This is a strange one to add, but I've really been impressed with this MooGoo deodorant. It's aluminum free and is a safer option for those not wanting to use chemical deodorants.

It has a slight smell, but it never interacts with the Beyonce perfume I've been wearing.

I had heard that natural deodorants aren't as effective as chemical ones, but I've found this lasts all day and is just as effective as any other deodorant that I've previously used. I actually wish that I had converted to natural deodorants earlier!!

And those were my August favourites!

Is there anything that you've been obsessed with lately?

  1. Fantastic favourites Amy and there are a few of mine in there too. I especially love the bhave shampoo and conditioner and the Eles blush. My favourites are going up tomorrow - I'm a bit late :-(
