Hi beauties,
Today I'm bringing you a special post that I wrote for the Pevonia blog (you can read their blog here).
I hope that you enjoy reading it!
...
Spring clothes have started to
enter your local Westfield stores and you know what that means....
Exposed arms and legs!
I'm not sure about you, but
this strikes fear in me. Over winter, I've been a bit lazy with body beauty
related tasks. In summer I use an exfoliating glove, a body wash and a body
moisturiser every day.
But in winter I'm too busy enjoying the warm water that I seem to skip most of
these steps… because who wants to be standing in the cold applying moisturiser
head to toe!
With the warmer weather just
around the corner, I'm forced to take drastic action.
Step 1: Shed my scaly skin
The best way to get smooth skin
is by either using an exfoliating product or exfoliating glove/dry body brush.
I prefer to use a glove as it's cheap, easy to use and I can clean it
easily.
Otherwise I love grainy exfoliators, especially for the soles of my feet.

Step 2: Put The Moisture Back
Into It
Oils are great for moisturising
your skin, especially when you apply it to damp (not wet) skin. Until recently,
I was put off by oils. Back 10 years ago when I first heard about body oils,
they were heavy, sticky and took ages to dry. But now body oils aren't heavy or
sticky. A lot of brands also have them in a spray formula which makes them not
only feel lighter on the skin but it also makes it much more fuss free.
I've recently been using the
Pevonia “Dry Oil Body Moisturiser” and have been so impressed. Because it's in a
spray bottle, I can target places where I need more moisture (like my chest,
arms and legs).
It's a light moisturiser that
doesn't leave my skin oily or greasy. If you're wanting to give the illusion of
skinnier legs, apply a little bit extra down the middle of your legs. It's the
body version of highlighting powder!
I also love to apply this onto my feet and then wear my socks to bed. I wake up with smooth, soft and silky feet.
It does have a soft scent. It's not too over powering so I can still wear my perfume. It contains Aloe Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Chamomile and Lavender Oil. It both moisturises and calms my skin.

Step 3: Disguise My
Imperfections
There are a few ways you can do
this. One of my least favourite body parts are my arms. I suffer from Keratosis
Pilaris, otherwise known as "chicken skin." It means that my
arms have small bumps on them, as well as the area being pinky/red.
They're inflammed clogged pores
and sadly there's no cure. But there are ways of reducing and hiding them.
Exfoliating is the best way. Using a body wash or lotion that contains AHAs or
BHAs helps to gentle exfoliate the skin. If your facial cleanser contains
salicylic acid in it, you can also use this on your arms. Pevonia have their “Preserve
Body Moisturiser” which contains AHAs, which can be applied to the arms.
When it comes to exfoliating
the area, always be gentle. You can't "scrub it away."
I also find that tanning my
skin helps to both reduce the redness of the area as well as hiding them.
Step 4: Wear your outfit!
With the 3 steps above, you'll
be ready for your favourite summer dress, sandals or strapless top!
Amy, XO
