I'm quite behind on my monthly favourites as my 4 year old was sick and passed on her cold to my 6 month old and myself (the joys of parenthood!!) so I've been unable to blog this last fortnight.
August has been a good beauty month with a lot of great new releases. September and October are great months for beauty releases as brands are getting ready to release Christmas gifts!! (Yep, it's getting very close to Christmas!). September is also Spring here in Australia so bright bold colours and bronzers are getting released for the warmer weather.
Here's what I've been loving in August...
Make Up
I've really fallen in love with the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in "Moonstone" to help give my skin some radiance minus the glitter. To me this is a grown up highlighter as it gives you a glow rather than making you look like a disco ball.
I'm loving the Rimmel Brow This Way Brow Styling Gel* to style my brows in the morning. If I'm doing a neutral and basic look then I go for "Blonde" but if I'm going for a more dramatic look then I prefer to use "Mid Brown."
One surprise has been the ModelCo Lash & Line Superlash Mascara and Liquid Liner.* I've been using the mascara nearly every day since being sent it. It's amazing!! It's one of the very few mascaras that doesn't smudge on me. I like to apply the liquid liner with an angled brush as it's a very small applicator and I find I'm too clumsy to use it.
Again I'm mentioning the Napoleon Perdis Nude U Palette.* While there's been a lot of amazing releases this year, this palette is in my top 5!!! It's a great all over palette as you can use it on your eyes, brows and cheeks. It's mostly matte, so it's perfect for a simple but beautiful eye look.
I picked up the Revo "Watermelon" Lip Balm recently from Woolworths and LOVE it! Besides loving the smell (which is amazing), I also find it so moisturising on my lips. I just picked up the Strawberry one yesterday, so hopefully I love it just as much.
I'm having a love affair with the Maybelline Colour Elixirs lately. I love them because I can get a lot of colour without the upkeep of a lipstick. They're also really moisturising too. Chemist Warehouse currently has 50% off Maybelline, so I'm hoping to pick up a few more colours.
Hair
Pre-wash hair treatments are my thing at the moment and I'm adoring the Lani Tropical Hair Treatment that I purchased in my Natural Supply Co haul here. I normally apply it to dry hair for 30-90 minutes before I wash my hair. Since using pre-wash treatments, my hair is so incredibly soft even though I'm getting foils every month in my quest to go super blonde. If you do a lot of bleaching or heat styling, then pick this up to get your hair healthy again.
If you torture your hair with heat styling, a great product to use for a quick hydrating fix is a hair oil. I've been using the KEVIN.MURPHY Young.Again Immortelle Infused Treatment Oil* all month long. I use it in 3 different ways. I either use it as a styling oil to hydrate my hair and get rid of frizziness, as leave in moisturiser or I apply a few drops to my conditioner if I don't have enough time to use a hair mask.
I try to only wash my hair only 1-2 times a week to stop any colour fade and to also stop my hair from drying out (embrace your own natural hair oil!) so I go through dry shampoo a lot. I've been loving the Paul Mitchell Dry Wash* because it's really light on my fine hair. I can use this for 3 or 4 days in a row and it doesn't feel heavy or yukky. If you have fine hair, then this is a wonderful dry shampoo to use.
Body
I'm still adoring the Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter Chocolate Whip Oil Free Body Moisturiser* to moisturise my body daily. It has a soft scent, that strangely doesn't smell very chocolaty. It's moisturising without feeling heavy. I follow it up with the MOR Marshmallow Eau De Parfume. It's a beautiful warm scent that's perfect for winter time.
And those are my most used and loved products in August. It's only a third of the way through September and I already have some amazing new products to share for my September favourites!
