These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things... February and March 2016

Monday, 4 April 2016

Life was crazy in February (my youngest turned 1 and my oldest started school) and by the time that I could write up a favourites post it was nearly the end of March, so I'm combining them for a bumper favourites!

February and March was a great month for me beauty-wise. I have quite a few new favourites from some new (and old) brands. There have also been some amazing releases over the last 2 months, which I've had a LOT of fun trialing.

Here's what I loved most in February and March...

The best thing by far was the Bloggers United AU Adelaide Event, which took place at the Seawall Apartments in Glenelg. The location was beautiful as you were just across the road from the beach. The weather was beautiful and it was such an amazing event. We had some local beauty brands showcase their products as well as well known brands. I'll be posting about it later this month (once I've been able to go through the 400 odd photos that I took!) but check out Jasmine's post (who you might know as Sweetaholic Beauty) here. She has also posted about the amazing goodie bags here.

Also check out Steph from How To Girl who, besides being an absolute sweetheart, is an incredible photographer!! If I was even 5% as good as her, I'd be amazing!! Her photos from the event are just inspiring.

I've been posting a lot on Facebook and Instagram, so if you want to see more head over there to find out more about the event and the brands that featured on the day.

Another stand out was a gorgeous facial at the Jurlique Burnside store. They offer a few different facials, but I had their Signature Facial * which is catered to your skin type and concerns. It was so incredibly lovely. It was a great chance to have someone else look at my skin from an unbiased viewpoint. When I look at my skin I see all the negative parts, but they don't. I'll have a post soon with more information about it and what I learnt from the facial.

Now onto the products that I've been using and loving...

Make Up

One product that really surprised me is the L'Oreal Colour Riche La Palette Nude Eyeshadow Palette. I originally picked it up in Rose, which has some gorgeous pinks in it. I loved it so much that I also bought it in Beige. The eyeshadows are a bit meh by themselves but when you use a cream base, it really makes them pop. In Australia it retails for $29.95, but L'Oreal is constantly on sale, so look out for it when it's on special.

I'm still obsessed with The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Lightening Drops. I use them almost every day to help lighten my foundations. They work so easily and don't change the consistency or performance of the foundation. Read my review to find out more.

One product that I was really impressed with was the Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara. This brow gel doesn't contain fibers like the Benefit brow gel, but it tints the hair and gives it the illusion of a fuller, stronger brow. At only $5.10 (AU) it's worth trying it out for yourself!

Everyone raves over the Becca highlighters, but the Becca Mineral Blush in "Flowerchild" is just as beautiful. It's extremely pigmented, so you only need a small amount. I'm wanting to pick the new colours when they're released in Oz.

I'm wanting to try more mineral and natural make up and was very excited to get my hands on the Dusty Girls Natural Mineral Blush in "Pink Ladies."* It's a very pigmented blush, so I prefer to use a big fluffy tulip brush to apply it (My Marc Jacobs Bronzer blush is my favourite brush to use). Using a larger brush stops me from applying too much.

One of the brands at the Bloggers United event was Vani-T. They're an Adelaide company that are known for their fake tanning products and services. They also do kickass make up. I'm loving the Mineral Cover Stick in "Ivory"* which is a mineral cream highlighter. It's a gorgeous pearl colour that really gives me a gorgeous glow. I interviewed Tania, who created the brand, which you can read here.

Skincare

Trilogy have some amazing skincare but the Trilogy Hydrating Mist Toner* is my favourite product that I've tried from them. It's refreshing, hydrating and smells really relaxing yet uplifting. It reminds me of the Jurlique mists, but at a fraction of the price.

Enbacci was a brand that presented at the Bloggers United event and we were given some samples from the range. I instantly fell in love with their toner, which is called Vitis Vinifera Rejuvenating Essence,* as well as their Microdermabrasion Exfoliating Scrub.*

I was sent the Goodness Natural Beauty Lab Grab & Go Goodness Try Me Kit and I've adored using the products. They're the perfect size to give you enough product to test for a week or two to see if it works for your skin.

I've already fallen in love with the Every Day Cream Cleanser* and have bought the full size from Woolworths. I'm also enjoying using the Certified Organic Chia Seed Oil* as both a serum and to add to my mask routine.

I have a giveaway coming up where 3 people will win a kit each!!! Keep an eye out :)

Body

Recently I was sent The Body Shop Strawberry Body Polish* and The Body Shop Strawberry Body Butter* from Snip Snip, which is a coupon discount website. I fell back in love with The Body Shop and now want to pick up some more of their body wash and body butters. To see the other products in the gift pack, click here

I also was using my Soda & Co Natural Body Wash and the Natural Body Lotion in "Pink Lemonade." I loved using this in the morning as the scent really perked me up. I've finished the body wash and will need to pick up a new one soon.

I've always loved masculine fragrances (like Cool Water) and recently Calvin Klein released a perfume that is gender free. The Calvin Klein CK2* is a really fresh and summery perfume. It isn't too heavy yet the scent lingers on your skin all day. While it's gender free, my husband smelt it and thought that it was more feminine than masculine.

What products are you currently obsessed with?

  1. Lovely faves! I am oh so curious about the TBS shade adjusting drops! They would definitely come in handy for me as all my foundation shades are all over the place haha :P I'll probably pick up the Essence brow gel once I finish the Benefit one!

    1. TBS drops are awesome. I now don't have to stress as much about a foundation being too dark.

  2. I like the idea of the lightening drops from The Body Shop. I should try and use it whenever my foundation is too dark.
